Elderly cyclist dies in crash with tractor

A cyclist has died in a crash involving a tractor in south-west England.

The fatal road traffic collision happened in Mid Devon yesterday (Wednesday, July 1).

Police officers were notified of the collision on a rural road at East Worlington at around 1:20p.m yesterday.

The crash involved a John Deere tractor towing a trailer and an electric-assisted bicycle.

As a result of the crash, the cyclist, a local man in his 80s, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The road was closed for some time while the investigation took place.

The vehicles were recovered and the scene was handed over to the local authority just before 11:00p.m.

The Roads Policing Team has thanked the public for their patience.

Devon Cornwall police are appealing for any witnesses who were in the area at the time of the collision and may have seen anything or have dashcam footage to come forward.
