A young motorcyclist has died following a collision with a tractor in Northern Ireland yesterday, April 19.
The motorcyclist was named as 21-year-old James Campbell, who lived in the local area, according to the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI).
The collision took place on the Ballymacanallen Road near the village of Gilford, Co. Down.
PSNI officers are appealing for anyone with information about the accident to come forward. The PSNI are particularly eager to hear from anyone travelling along the Ballmacanallen Road at around 1:20pm.
Emergency services were called to the scene, which is on the border of counties Down and Armagh, at around lunchtime yesterday.
The road was closed following the crash and local diversions were put in place by the PSNI.
A significant number of emergency service staff remained at the scene for a considerable amount of time following the accident yesterday afternoon.
It is unknown whether the driver of the tractor was injured in the collision.
The collision involving the tractor and motorcycle near the Co. Down village of Gilford follows on from a fatal single-vehicle collision on the Ballydugan Road near Downpatrick late the previous night.
The PSNI confirmed that the driver of the car died as a result of the road traffic accident, which reportedly occurred at 10.30pm on Tuesday, April 18.
Ballydugan Road was closed for a time following the collision; it was re-opened early yesterday morning, the PSNI added.
