The weekend weather forecast indicates some freezing temperatures but a mostly dry weekend ahead.
According to the Met Office, today (Friday, December 1) will have a cold start with some freezing fog and icy patches in places.
Further wintry showers will also continue across coastal areas, but many inland areas will be dry with spells of sunshine. It will feel cold, perhaps very cold where any fog lingers.
Many places will remain dry tonight with clear spells leading to a widespread sharp frost. Wintry showers will continue near coastal areas with some freezing fog developing inland.
There is Yellow Warning for snow and ice effective from 5 o’clock this evening (Friday) until 10:00a.m tomorrow for parts of England and Scotland.
The Met Office has said that it is expecting:
- Some roads and railways are likely to be affected with longer journey times by road, bus and train services;
- Probably some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths;
- Some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces.

It will, however, turn increasingly unsettled and less cold from Sunday onwards as we move into early next week, especially for southern and central areas.
Northern areas are likely to remain colder with further coastal wintry showers.
