With the Irish dairy sector in expansion mode, efficient heifer rearing has become vitally important on many farmers around the country.

Recent Teagasc research has found that rearing a dairy heifer to 24 months costs as much as €1,545 including both the cost of labour and opportunity cost of land

This week, Volac will host a heifer rearing conference where many of the key issues surrounding heifer rearing are set to be discussed.
