Vintage enthusiasts will be congregating in south-west Limerick as the Tournafulla and District Vintage Club hosts its annual vintage day this Sunday, July 23.
The day will kick off with a vintage tractor and car run at 11:00am. The two vehicle categories will set out on different routes into the scenic west Limerick hills, with a tea break in between.
The run will be followed by a vintage display at 1:00pm and a Family Fun Day at 2:00pm on Tournafulla GAA pitch.
In aid of various local south-west charities, the day promises to provide plenty of entertainment for both adults and children.
Activities will include: a cow-milking event; kids’ peddle-tractor racing; the infamous local jiving competition; vintage stalls; a giant ‘Connect 4’; a raffle; a barbecue; a tug ‘o’ war; a bake sale; and lots more for all the family.
More information is available from the club’s Facebook page.
Slieve Bloom Vintage
Meanwhile, a successful charity vintage day was had by Slieve Bloom Vintage Club, based in Kilcormac, Co. Offaly, on Sunday, July 9.
The run included approximately 50 tractors and a range of vintage cars. However, turnout was down on previous years sadly due to a bereavement in the area. Funds raised at this year’s run went to the local charity ‘Friends of the Hospital Tullamore’.
Now in its 16th year, the Slieve Bloom Vintage Club has 50 members and has raised in the region of €10,000 for charities – both local and national – over the years. Next year’s run is scheduled for July 8, 2018, with further information available here.
