One Welsh farmer has come up with a way of getting from his wheelchair into the cab of his tractor after he was paralysed from the chest down in a car accident.
Matthew Evans (31) from North Wales was going home from a local show when he and two of his friends were hit by a 4×4 in August last year.
“It changed my life because I lost all the use of my lower body from my chest down. I enjoy everything with agriculture, tractor driving, I work with cattle and all sorts,” he told Caters TV.
The Welshman was determined to get back into the cab of the tractor so he and his friends came up with a plan.
“We came up with the idea by looking at other ideas of people and looked at a few things on the internet and came up with doing it hydraulic. It was the best way.
“Then we designed a lift and it took a bit of work getting it fitted to the tractor, it’s not the easiest thing to put one on and then it all came together in the end.
“I had the accident in August and got back to work in May. Oh it’s brilliant getting back to work, getting out there and doing something. I feel more normal again.
“My family and friends were brilliant through the whole thing; they’ve got me through it really.”
