The Veterinary Medicines Directorate (VMD) is recruiting an executive officer to take on the role of operational delivery coordinator.
The vacancy is in the residues section of the VMD’s surveillance division.
The closing date for applications for the role is Monday, November 13, 2023.
“The office is responsible for delivery of a GB programme of testing for residues of prohibited substances, veterinary medicines and contaminants in foodstuffs,” the VMD said.
“Delivery of this statutory programme of work is key to assuring the safety of GB Products of Animal Origin (POAO) and critical to ensuring export/trade of GB foodstuffs.
“This role plays a key part in delivering this programme of work and focuses on the team’s reporting obligations as well as coordination of residues investigations and audits.”
The annual salary for the operational delivery coordinator role is £29,082-£30,402 with pension scheme. Annual leave entitlements commences at 25 days.

The VMD promotes animal health and welfare by assuring the safety, quality and efficacy of veterinary medicines.
It is an executive agency of the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) and contributes to its objectives related to the protection of public health and meeting high standards of animal welfare.
Its work also supplements that of the Food Standards Agency to protect and improve the safety of food in the UK.
The VMD employs around 165 people – a mixture of scientific and administrative staff – who work at offices near Addlestone, Surrey.
