What is claimed to be the world’s largest cultivator has been put together by Vaderstad for the Nexat gantry system and has been operating in Romania this year.

The Vaderstad Cultus HD has been adapted to fit the Nexat carrier vehicle, allowing it to work the soil between carriers tracks giving an impressive 14-meter working width, which is said to be the widest in the world.

Nexat refer to its gantry as a holistic crop production system rather than a new form of tractor. It runs on 14m-wide tramlines that are established once and then used year-round for all field operations.

Sacrificial 5%

This approach prevents up to 95% of the soil from being driven over, avoiding compaction and promoting soil health. The same tramlines may also be used in each season, sacrificing the remaining 5% of the soil for the good of the rest.

The new Cultus HD cultivator offers versatile use in widespan controlled traffic farming, with working depths ranging from 5-30cm.

It is a well-established tool, with a known array of features to enable a tailored format for any planting condition, ranging from from shallow cutting and mixing to deep loosening of compacted layers.

With a tine spacing of 25cm, it evenly loosens the soil within the carriers planting track, but can also be converted to a strip-till cultivator with a 50cm row spacing by folding up one row of tines.

It is also equipped with an automatic stone release system that acts with a force of 680kg.

Nexat fills a gap

The integration of the new Cultus HD into the Nexat system marks a significant expansion of its soil cultivation capabilities. Now it is possible to farm the ground by the gantry only with no additional machinery required.

The company claims that its mission is to develop a system that not only makes fieldwork easier but sustainably revolutionizes agriculture.

The premiere in Romania was considered a complete success, achieving an area performance of up to 10ha/hour at a working depth of 25cm.

For 2025, additional Cultus HD units will be produced and delivered to customers
