UK Dairy Day has confirmed its judges for the 2023 edition of the event – Colin Christophers from Cornwall will judge the Ayrshire classes and Brian Weatherup from Fife will judge the Brown Swiss classes.
This year’s dairy trade event will be held at the International Centre in Telford on Wednesday, September 13, 2023.
Christophers was selected by the Ayrshire Cattle Society to be the judge for the National Ayrshire Show at the event.
He runs the Rosehill Ayrshire herd on a 300ac farm and manages a herd of 300 with 170 milking cows and followers.
Christophers’ herd has shown all over the South West and previosuly up the the Royal Show. The herd won the Royal Show with Rosehill Black Velour.
Christophers has judging experience and has participated in panels including at Balmoral and Antrim in Northern Ireland, the Highland Show and AgricScot in Scotland and the Welsh Dairy Show.
Brian Weatherup
Brian Weatherup was added to the panel of judges by the Brown Swiss Cattle Society for their national show.
Weatherup runs his family’s farm with his parents and wife Gillian. They milk 220 pedigree cattle with a focus on proven genetics. The herd won back-to-back Scottish herds competitions in 2020/2021.
Like Christophers, Weatherup has previous judging experience, including at the Royal Highland Show, Great Yorkshire Show and Irish National calf shows,
The judge for the National Holstein Show was announced in December as south Wales dairy farmer Iwan Morgan who runs the Erie herd of 150 Holsteins and 30 Jerseys.
The cattle schedule for UK Dairy Day 2023 will be released at the beginning of July with the stall booking deadline being Friday, August 4, 2023.
