Thousands of buyers in the US will be able to sample cheese from the UK at America’s largest show devoted exclusively to specialty foods and beverages.
AHDB will showcase seven dairy exporters from the UK at this year’s Summer Fancy Food show in New York City, which runs from Sunday to Tuesday.
Every year, the Specialty Food Association’s premier show attracts more than 47,000 food professionals, with over 2,670 exhibitors from 55 countries showcasing high quality products including confectionery, cheese, coffee, snacks and spices.
The US is one of the most important markets outside of the EU for UK dairy products – with more than £50 million worth of cheese shipped to America last year.
In the first three months of 2022, the value of UK cheese exports to the US rose 25% compared to the same period last year – with shipments worth £13 million.
AHDB senior export manager for dairy Lucy Randolph said: “The US is a hugely important market, with more than 9,300t of cheese shipped last year – bringing a significant boost to the UK’s dairy sector.
“The Summer Fancy Food show is a fantastic show that allows our exporters to meet with international importers and create new business opportunities in this lucrative market.
“We are delighted to be joining our exporters, helping to facilitate important meetings with key players in the market, and showcase the high-quality dairy products from the UK.”
AHDB will have a small showcase stand to support UK exporters exhibiting at the show and will joined by Paul Blake, AHDB’s North American agent, and Scottish Dairy.
