Cheshire Constabulary has confirmed reports of a collision between a tractor and a car, which resulted in the tractor driving into two houses on the same street in Chester.

According to a statement from Cheshire Constabulary, the incident occurred at 6:36a.m today (Tuesday April 1), on the A51 Vicars Cross Road at the junction of Pearl Lane in Chester.

The officers attending the scene of the incident discovered the tractor in the rubble of the two houses it had struck following the collision. Both houses reported structural damage from the incident.

No accounts of any serious injuries were reported as a result of the collision and the drivers of both vehicles were taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital as “a precautionary measure”, the constabulary confirmed.

Attending police officers also reportedly accounted for the occupants of both houses impacted by the collision, who were all declared to be “safe and well”.

Vicars Cross Road in Chester was closed by police in both directions between Green Lane and the A41 following the collision, and motorists were urged by the constabulary to avoid the area.

Commenting on the incident, MP for Chester North and Neston, Samantha Dixon said:

“I am deeply concerned to hear about the serious collision on the A51 Vicars Cross Road this morning. My thoughts are with all those involved, including the drivers and the residents of the affected homes. Thankfully, there are no reports of any injuries.

“Thank you to our emergency services for their swift response and dedication in ensuring the safety of those involved. Their professionalism and commitment to our community are truly commendable.

“Diversions are in place but motorists are urged to avoid the area and allow the emergency service to continue their work.”

The constabulary revealed it is conducting ongoing inquiries into the incident and has urged anyone with information or video footage that may assist with its inquires to contact Cheshire police.
