Tillage farmers’ margins increase with hybrids was the take home message from Seedtech’s Commercial Director Aidan Moore at this year’s Seedtech and Syngenta open day.
With over 930 varieties in 2,000 plots, farmers had the opportunity to view one of Ireland’s largest independent trailing systems, according to Seedtech.
Syngenta also showcased its latest fungicide research and its new succinate dehydrogenase inhibitor (SDHI) fungicide which, the company says, is a fungicide for wet weather diseases in cereals.
According to Seedtech, its hybrid winter barley Volume is still the number one hybrid winter barley, topping the Irish recommended list at 109% of controls.
Seedtech also showed its new hybrid winter barley, Quadra, which it says offers exceptional yields and disease resistance.
Seedtech Trials Manager, Patsy Kehoe said the company’s new winter wheat varieties have been picked from a special screening trial set up a number of years ago.
One to watch coming through this trial is Garrus winter wheat, it’s a new high-yielding wheat, with highly desirable disease resistant characteristics, Seedtech says.On the day, Husky oat, was on show and according to Seedtech it is suitable for spring and winter sowing, while growers also got the opportunity to examine Seedtech’s portfolio of spring barley varieties.
