More than 16 Carlow companies are all geared up for the National Ploughing Championships, which take place this year at Ratheniska, County Laois, from the 24-26 September. Representatives gathered in Carlow yesterday to officially launch the Carlow stand at the Championships.
These county Carlow companies, which are all supported by Carlow County Enterprise Board, will exhibit a wide range of goods and services across sectors including, health, lifestyle, home and garden, tourism and fashion.
The companies are confident of receiving almost €250k of orders during this year’s National Ploughing Championships.
An usual treatment for sore eyes will be available from the Original Eye Spoon Company – a revolutionary effective method of applying heat to areas of the eyelids to relieve irritation, redness, dryness and tired eyes using beech wood spoons.
Members of the farming community will be encouraged to embrace and develop the use of social media by We Teach Social, which is also exhibiting as part of the Carlow Stand at this year’s National Ploughing Championships.
Kieran Comerford, CEO, Carlow County Enterprise Board, said: “The National Ploughing Championships are an important event in our business calendar. In recent years, Carlow has had a strong presence at the Ploughing and the companies involved find it extremely beneficial. The variety of small businesses exhibiting at the Carlow stand this year are hoping to improve on past success and I am confident that visitors to the National Ploughing Championships will continue to support small business, in turn sustaining local employment and the economy.”
The Ploughing Championships attract up to 190 thousand visitors across the three days, with the tented trade village, where these Carlow firms will be based, a focal point.
