Despite the draw of the big guns, typical-size farmers’ tractors assumed prominent positions at the SIMA agricultural show in Paris this week.
The event, which attracted approximately 240,000 visitors, provided tractor manufacturers with the perfect shop window to put forward their popular 75-125hp tractors.
One of the key attractions in the lower-horsepower market was the launch of the Massey Ferguson 4700 Series with the addition of a Visio roof.
According to Massey Ferguson, the Visio roof has been added to the 4700 Series to allow for ‘perfect visability’ when operating a loader.
The Visio roof was showcased on a 4707, which is capable of producing 75hp; other models in the range extend up to 95hp.
Italian flair lands in Paris
Italy’s Landini put forward the 6C-120 Dual Power model which, it says, is capable of generating a maximum of 121hp.
6C tractors are powered by FPT-NEF 4.5L, 4-cylinder turbo-charged engines, with six valves per cylinder and a common-rail injection system.
The 6C Series is the successor to the popular Powermondial tractor family.
Another from the same stable
Coming from the same base in Italy, McCormick presented its X6.430 tractor.
Capable of producing 121hp, or 130hp with the addition of ‘Power Plus’ boost, the X6.430 is powered by a Betapower 4.5L, 4-cylinder turbo-charged engine.
According to McCormick, X6 tractors offer a compact design and a stylish 4-post cab, with automotive-grade fit and finish for “maximum comfort and operation”.
Built with livestock farmers in mind
Vying for favoritism among visitors with New Holland’s methane and autonomous concepts, the New Holland T5.120 drew plenty of interest during the SIMA show.
The T5.120 tractor is built at CNH Industrial’s plant in Jesi, Italy to meet the evolving needs of livestock farmers and those who require a nimble, mid-powered tractor for dairy and mixed farming, the company says.
Under the bonnet, the T5.120 features a 3.4L common-rail engine, with is capable of generating 117hp. Maximum torque is 362ft/lbs at 1,500rpm.
Ideal for heavy loader work
Like New Holland, Case IH also had its autonomous tractor concept on display at SIMA, but just a couple of feet away stood the Case-IH 115C.
According to the manufacturer, the Case IH Farmall C series tractors are “hard-working, heavy-duty” tractors that are ideal for demanding livestock duties and heavy loader work.
The Farmall 115C is fitted with a Tier 4A-compliant 4-cylinder, 3.4L turbocharged and intercooled engine.
‘Clever’ Kubota M95GX-III on show
Described as a “clever and multi-talented” tractor, the Kubota M95GX-III greeted visitors at the Kubota stand.
This tractor, says the company, features modern engine technology and performs well in tough field conditions. It claims that work is made easier, thanks to its semi-powershift transmission, ‘Bi-Speed Turn’ steering system and “powerful” hitch mechanism.
In addition, the 104hp, 4-cylinder engine boasts “low fuel consumption and a long life span”.
