Recipe for Success: Eight Degrees Brewing
WORKS: Eight Degrees Brewing is naturally adventurous. It is a craft-brewing company established in 2011 by an Australian and New Zealander, based in Mitchelstown, Co Cork. Eight Degrees Brewing produces a range of full flavoured tasty ales and largers.
LESSONS: “Being a couple of friends starting up a business has worked out great for us,” explained Scott Baigent. “Having someone else going through the start-up challenges with you helps you keep the faith and plough on. It’s also great having a sounding board to sanity check ideas before launching in.”Â
CHALLENGES: “Encouraging beer consumers to try a craft beer for the first time can be hard going. We rely heavily on bar staff actively promoting our products and from consumer word of mouth. There is nothing more effective for us than someone taking a six pack of our beers along to dinner and encouraging their friends to give it a try. ”
PLANS: “We’re hugely optimistic about the future,” sai Baigent. “We’ve received a great reaction on our beers and have been trying to grow the brewery quickly to cater for demand. We’re currently around full capacity and installing another six fermentation and conditioning tanks in November that will increase capacity by another 150 per cent.”
