The Farm Tractor and Machinery Trade Association’s (FTMTA’s) massive machinery auction looms large; the event takes place this Saturday (September 30) at Punchestown Event Centre near Naas, Co. Kildare.
According to Paul Cooke Auctions – the company conducting the sale on behalf of the FTMTA – it will be an unreserved (‘no reserve’) auction.
It will be one of the biggest auctions – of used farm machinery here in the Republic of Ireland – in recent times. It is the first such sale to be hosted by the FTMTA. The association is running the event on behalf of its members – dealers dotted all over the country.
AgriLand paid a visit to the site today – well in advance of the event – to bring you pictures of just a selection of what awaits prospective buyers on Saturday.
Lots range from combine and forage harvesters right down to crates of spare parts. In all, there will be several hundred lots – most likely up to 400, according to the auctioneers.
Two sales rings will run on the day. One will be a ‘drive-through‘ auction, in which tractors and self-propelled equipment will parade through – one after the other.
The other sales ring will deal with other machines, implements and miscellaneous items. Each lot will be displayed on a large screen, adjacent to the sales ring.
All of the lots being offered for sale will be on-site – at Punchestown. The actual selling will take place under cover, inside the event centre.
Viewing will be open at Punchestown tomorrow (Thursday) and Friday, as well as on the morning of the auction (from 8:30am). To bid, you must be registered – on-site, online or through a ‘pre-bid’ service.
The auction will kick off at 11:00am on Saturday. Catering facilities will be available.
Well in excess of 30 tractors are expected to feature at the auction – of varying hues and brands. Some are showing their advancing age; others are modern examples.
There will also be a selection of self-propelled foragers and combine harvesters. The foragers – present thus far – are all Claas Jaguars; the combine line-up includes a Claas, a New Holland, a John Deere and even a Case IH Axial-Flow model.
There is already a wide and varied selection of machinery present on-site.
Notably, there are several ‘unused’ Pottinger machines in the mix, as well as a pair of ‘new’ Claydon drills.
