‘Nuisance’ Northumbria quad bike
In other news from the area, Northumbria Police have seized a “nuisance” quad bike in response to complaints by residents in North Tyneside.
The force said it received several reports of quad-bike related anti-social behaviour in the Meadow Well area of North Shields last week.
Reports were made concerning loud noise levels as well as damage caused by the rider of the vehicle to grass, benches and street vehicles.
Neighbourhood Chief Inspector for the area, Colin Lowther, said the seizure was a “positive result” for the residents.
“We know the aspects of ASB surrounding quad bikes and motorcycles is a concern for many residents across the force area. We want to reassure you – this will not be tolerated,” he said.
“Seizing vehicles suspected to be involved in this type of disorder is just one example of our proactive approach to tackling reckless riding in the community.
“We want everyone to feel safe and be proud of their neighbourhoods, so it’s important to disrupt any criminality which jeopardises this.
“The public are our eyes and ears in the community – please know that your intelligence is vital, and we will continue to take positive action to address any concerns reported to us.”
Northumbria Police said enquiries are ongoing to identify the rider of the vehicle.
