The National Sheep Association (NSA) has announced the appointment of Ellen Moorehead as new NSA Northern Ireland regional coordinator.
Moorehead succeeds Edward Adamson as development officer in the region, who is retiring after numerous years of service for the organisation.
The association is representing and advocating on behalf of sheep farmers throughout the UK, whose activities are funded by its members.
Moorehead, a Castlewellan, Co. Down native, will coordinate the organisation’s policy work in Northern Ireland, manage its members and direct the annual NSA Sheep Northern Ireland event, which is scheduled to return next summer.
Moorehead’s farming background and her previous career as an agri tech manager focusing on advancing agricultural technologies and sustainable farming practices, makes her well positioned to take up the mantle of regional coordinator.

Speaking about her appointment, Moorehead said: “I am excited and honoured to step into the role of NSA Northern Ireland regional coordinator, following in the footsteps of Edward Adamson, who has dedicated so many years to serving the sheep farming community here.
“Edward’s extensive knowledge, experience, and dedication have been invaluable to NSA and to sheep farmers across Northern Ireland. I am very aware of the large shoes I have to fill, but I am equally excited for the challenge.
“I hope to build on the strong foundation Edward has laid. His legacy of commitment to the sector is one I deeply respect, and I look forward to carrying forward the work he has done while bringing my own perspective to the role.”
Over the coming months, the new coordinator will meet with farmers and stakeholders to listen to their concerns and ideas, ensuring the association continues to provide valuable support to the sheep industry in Northern Ireland.

“All at NSA are incredibly grateful to Edward Adamson for his service to NSA over so many years – there could not have been a greater advocate for our Association in Northern Ireland and further afield.
“We wish him a well deserved happy retirement.
“But as we acknowledge all that Edward has done for NSA we must now look to a new exciting future for the Association in Northern Ireland under the coordination of Ellen. We welcome Ellen to NSA and are very much looking forward to working alongside her.”
