NFU Scotland’s Ayrshire region, in partnership with Barclays, are hosting a series of free to attend workshops to drive forward farm businesses in the county.
The programme will see a different topic tackled each month from August onwards, covering a range of issues including additional farm income opportunities, the safe use of agricultural vehicles, secure use of online banking and looking out for mental health in the workplace.
The first workshop titled ‘How to attract the best staff and to be a great employer’ will run from 10:45am to 2:00pm on Wednesday, June 12.
The event, which includes lunch, will take place at the Training Room in the J.F. Niven Building, Auchincruive.
This session will look at how businesses can build up a positive reputation as an employer, recruiting the right people, retain staff and build a motivated team. It will also look at examples of successful employers.
Ahead of the event, NFU Scotland Ayrshire regional manager Christine Cuthbertson said: “Ayrshire has some super family farm businesses and in an ever-changing world, it is important that we support farming families to manage their businesses and explore new opportunities.
“This programme of free to attend workshops will offer something of interest for everyone. We are grateful to Barclays for their support to make this happen. I would encourage people to have a look at the programme and to register their interest.”
A spokesman from Barclays said: “Barclays has supported the agricultural sector since 1744, helping farmers to grow their business and thrive, even in challenging times.
The challenges and changes facing the industry mean diversification is key, and we’re here to help farmers adapt for the future.
