The National Farmers’ Union Scotland (NFUS) has appointed Stephen Hepburn as its new Senior Group Secretary and Senior Agent based at the busy NFU Mutual Thainstone Agency, Inverurie.
He takes over from Duncan Low who retired after 38 years in June.
Stephen Hepburn has over 30 years of experience of working within the financial sector in the North East for Clydesdale Bank.
He held a variety of prominent roles and was latterly regional head of Customer Banking leading a large team of staff looking after commercial, private and retail banking clients across Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire.
He is a member of the Chartered Banker Institute of Scotland and has recently completed his term on the Policy Council of Aberdeen and Grampian Chamber of Commerce.
Commenting on his appointment, Stephen said:
“I’m delighted to have the opportunity to represent the NFU Scotland and NFU Mutual brands in my home patch at what is both a challenging and exciting time for rural businesses.
With a family background in agriculture, this combined role allows me to bring this, along with everything I’ve learned from my career in financial services, together in one place.
Andrew Connon, NFU Scotland North East Regional Chair welcomed Stephen and said:
“I’m looking forward to working with Stephen as he develops the business at Thainstone. He will be a great asset to both NFUS and NFUM.”
Connon’s sentiments were echoed by Lorna Paterson, North East Regional Manager, who added:
“I’m excited about working with Stephen to help support Buchan and Central Aberdeenshire Branch activities and also with policy matters relating to member queries.”
