The Irish Exporters Association (IEA) is partnering with ABP Food Group and a number of other leading companies, in collaboration with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Enterprise Ireland and Bord Bia, to launch a new initiative for aspiring exporters from the SME sector.
The National Export Campaign (NEC) and National Export Hub (NEH) are aimed helping smaller businesses export to new and existing markets.
Commenting on the partnership, Mark Goodman, International Director of ABP Food Group, said that as the leading exporter of Irish beef with experience in a wide range of markets we are delighted to be involved with this innovative initiative. “We are really looking forward to the roadshow and in sharing our international experience and supporting potential exporters from the SME sector.”
Simon McKeever, Chief Executive of the Irish Exporters Association said that exporting is a critical sector in the Irish economy with headline figures dominated by the multinationals.
“The existing vibrant and growing SME export base, supported by the work of the IEA, Enterprise Ireland and Bord Bia has scope to grow significantly. Companies that increase their exports add to the Irish economy through direct and indirect job creation, influence the supply chain positively and drive increased spending both locally and nationally.”
ABP was recently awarded the multi-national exporter of the year award and is well positioned to mentor other Irish Businesses on exporting. The company recently became the first European supplier to export beef to the USA since 1998. The seminars will provide practical knowledge and an opportunity for attending SMEs to meet individually with experts from ABP and the other attending Partners*.
The National Export Campaign will be at the Smart Business Show 22nd & 23rd April 2015 and in Cork also in April, Portlaoise in May and Limerick in June.
