Minister for Rural Affairs Lesley Griffiths will be attending the Royal Welsh Winter Fair event today (Monday, November 28) and is calling on attendees to visit the Welsh Government stand in the South Glamorgan Hall.
“If you’re visiting the fair please call in to the Welsh Government stand where staff will be ready to help with any queries you may have,” she said.
“I’m very much looking forward to this year’s Winter Fair which once again will showcase the best of Wales’ farming and rural life.”
The stand will have information on the Sustainable Farming Scheme, Farm Health and Safety, Agricultural Pollution, avian influenza and more.
At the fair, the first meeting of a working group looking at young and new entrants will also take place.
“I’m pleased the first working group for young and new entrants will take place at the fair, which is important to make sure we have a steady influx of fresh talent and energy to help the resilience of the industry,” the minister added.
FUW
The Farmers’ Union of Wales (FUW) has said that it is also available to discuss farming matters at the fair.
Union officials and staff will be available over the two days to discuss the recent consultation response to the Sustainable Farming Scheme proposals, the Nitrate Vulnerable Zones (NVZ) regulations as well as the Agriculture (Wales) bill, it said.
“We are looking forward to welcoming members of the Union, friends and family, as well as FUW Insurance Services customers to our stand for a chat and a cuppa over the course of the two days,” FUW president Glyn Roberts aid.
“A warm welcome is guaranteed to all who come to see us and I look forward to discussing many farming matters with you all including our elected representatives and industry stakeholders.”
