Meat Business Women (MBW), the community for women working in the meat industry, has announced the appointment of Roxy Walker as its client relationship director.
Walker started in her new role last week (Monday, March 20) and is UK-based, but will have oversight across all of the organisation’s partners globally.
Meat Business Women said Walker joins the company with a “passion for creating sustainable change for women in the meat sector”.
The company said she comes from a varied background in food retail, packaging, sustainability, diversity, equity and inclusion, which will bring “extensive knowledge” of the meat sector supply chain to Meat Business Women.
In her new role, Walker will be working to understand the individual needs of all partners and how MBW can contribute towards their own diversity, equity, and inclusion strategies.
This will be done with the aim of helping the company to “attract and retain female talent in an industry that historically has been overlooked by newcomers and graduates”, the company said.
Speaking on Walker’s appointment, Meat Business Women chair Laura Ryan said: “As Meat Business Women continues to expand and strengthen our relationships with partners, we are thrilled to welcome Roxy to the Meat Business Women team as our Client Relationship Director,” she said.
“With her experience in building successful partnerships, we are confident that Roxy will excel in engaging with our valued sponsors.”
Speaking on her appointment, Walker said: “I am excited to be working with an organisation that is working so hard to support and create gender balance and opportunities in the meat sector.
“What Laura and the team have achieved so far is amazing and inspiring and I’m looking forward to joining the team and being part of the change towards a more balanced and diverse sector in the future.”
