A man aged in his 50s has died following a single vehicle incident involving a quad in Lisnaskea, Co. Fermanagh.

The incident was reported shortly before 7:40am yesterday morning (Saturday, September 14) on the Moat Road, according to the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI).

Vincent, known as Vinny, Smith from the local area died at the scene. He had been riding a Honda quad at the time of the incident.

Roads inspector from the PSNI collision investigation unit Cherith Adair said: “My detectives are investigating the circumstances of the incident and would like to hear from witnesses or anyone who may have captured dash-cam or other footage which could assist with our enquiries.”

The inspector has asked anyone with information to call the number 101 or provide information online via the PSNI website. The reference case for the incident is: 290 14/09/24.

Investigations by the PSNI are continuing. The Moat road has since reopened.

Separately on Friday (September 13), a lorry and a tractor were involved in a road traffic collision on the N59 in Co. Galway.

Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene at Tooreeny at approximately 9:20am in the morning.

The road was closed to allow a single lane of traffic in operation, and it is understood recovery vehicles were on the scene a short time later.
