Hundreds of thousands of people are attending the National Ploughing Championships in Tullamore for one of the key dates in the farming diary.
Visitors to this year’s Ploughing will get to see some of the very best jeeps available on the Irish market.
For those unable to attend or who just haven’t made their mind up yet, don’t worry, the team here at Agriland has compiled a list of what models are on offer over the three day event.
Mitsubishi Pajero Commercial
The Mitsubishi Pajero Commercial was on the first 4×4 vehicles we seen on our travels around the Ploughing’s 24km of roadway.
The Pajero DI-D 4WD 200 PS is powered by a 3.2L engine, allowing for a towing capacity of 3,500kg in the long-wheel base models and 3,000kg in the short-wheel base version.
According to Mitsubishi, the long-wheel base models range in price from €30,890-33,330 (excluding VAT), while farmers can expect to pay anywhere from €28,450-30,890 (excluding VAT) for the short-wheel base alternative.

Skoda Yeti
Skoda has increased in popularity in Ireland in recent years and its offering to farmers, the Skoda Yeti, could provide the perfect balance of a family car and farm work horse.
Under the bonnet, the Yeti is powered by a 2L TDI engine which pumps out 110 horsepower, while its high ride height may make it an attractive vehicle for many farmers.
According to Skoda, the 2L model costs €27,720 and it is capable of doing over 63 miles to the gallon.

- Climatic air-conditioning

Volkswagon Amarok
The latest model in the Volkswagon Amarok range, the Amarok V6, was launched at this week’s Ploughing.
The 224 horsepower Amarok features a 3L V6 engine, providing the vehicle with a towing capacity of 3,500kg.
The Amarok V6 is fitted with an eight-speed automatic gear box and is capable of doing 100km on 7.7L of diesel.
According to Volkswagon, the Amarok costs €55,125 for the standard package, but if optional extras are needed the price jumps to €55,125.

Toyota Land Cruiser
The Toyota Land Cruiser has been one of the go to 4×4 vehicles for farmers for a number of years, and judging by the crowds at the Toyota stand this year, the trend appears to be continuing.
According to Toyota, prices for its popular Land Cruiser model start from €40,395 and models are available up to 177 horsepower, with some capable of doing 37.7 miles per gallon.

Range Rover Discovery
Range Rover’s Discovery is also on show over the three days of the Ploughing extravaganza in Tullamore.
Prices for the Discovery model on show start at €65,825, while a range of additional features such as heated seats and windscreen can be added as optional extras.
According to Land Rover, the Discovery features full-time 4WD along with an eight-speed automatic gear box.
Other key features include an almond leather interior, hill decent control, air suspension and rear parking sensors.
