A senior advisor to the Labour Party, Mark Garrett, is joining Glanbia as Director of Communications and Public Affairs.
He takes on the role as Geraldine Kearney is appointed to a new role as Director of Global Sustainability/CSR after 11 years in communications with Glanbia. Mark Garrett joins the Group, from his most recent post as Chief of Staff to the Tánaiste, as Director of Communications and Public Affairs.
Michael Patten, Group Human Resources and Corporate Affairs Director, said these senior appointments reflect the completion of a strategic review of the Corporate Affairs function within Glanbia.
The newly expanded Glanbia Corporate Affairs function will be accountable for corporate communications and media relations, strategic corporate reputation management, employee communications, Group Sustainability / CSR, public affairs & issues management, and Farmer Relations.
As Global Sustainability / CSR Director Geraldine Kearney will be responsible for the development and execution of a comprehensive overarching group sustainability and CSR strategy, defining and addressing Glanbia’s ambitions across environmental, community and societal impacts.
Mark Garrett joins Glanbia after more than 15 years experience in both the public and private sectors. In his most recent position he served as Chief of Staff to the Tánaiste & Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ireland.
As Director of Communications and Public Affairs, Mark will be responsible for leading communications and engagement and public policy with Glanbia’s external stakeholders, particularly media, government, parliamentary and regulatory bodies and with industry associations.
