A new name has appeared in the digital technology sector of farming in Ireland and that is FJ Dynamics, a company based in Singapore that is now expanding globally.
Spearheading its entry into the Irish market is the launch of its latest autosteering system, the FJD AT2 Max, which is billed as an all-round upgrade to its AT2 offering which has enjoyed great success in the company’s existing markets.
FJ Dynamics claims to have made significant improvements to the original system which are chiefly based around the operator experience and functionality of the screen.
The system supports guidance lines, headland turns, diagonal ploughing and integration with its own, and third party, farm management systems.
Ease of installation
This latest version is also said to make installation and setup easier with the robust metal casing of the screen offering IP67 protection, meaning that it is fully dust-proof and can withstand temporary immersion in water.
However, it is the actual user interface which the company is pointing to as the major advance for the latest version and this is headed by a screen that now measures 308mm across, a 46% increase over the basic AT2 model.
The screen frame may be narrower but it is said to be built to withstand the rigours of daily wear and tear with the SIM slot now redesigned to prevent jamming or misalignment.
An increase in screen size has several advantages, it makes the information more legible and also helps ensure that critical information is easily accessible at a glance.
In this way, farmers can focus more on their tasks without worrying about misreading vital data especially when operating at speed, leading to safer and more effective operating in the field.
Demand for screen size
The company notes that it has experience of farmers complaining about the inconvenience of a small screen, this improvement of the visual experience has come about as a result of those concerns.
The AT2Max is primarily a full screen ISOBUS Universal Terminal (UT) interface, allowing the driver to focus on critical machine data during implement operation.
However, being a larger screen it may also be split and still retain legibility. The four-screen layout enables operators to view multiple tasks simultaneously without having to switch between windows.
In addition, the AT2Max can can show up to 24 sections at a time which, along with a mini navigation window is claimed to make the farming tasks easier and more efficient.
AT2Max processing power
At the heart of the screen lie premium processors which work at a higher speed with a lower power usage.
It is said to run on the latest central processor unit (CPU) architecture giving a healthy 170% increase in processing power.
When handling large amounts of data this extra performance, underpinned by 4GB of RAM, will give a smoother user experience, quicker reaction times and faster loading, saving time and avoiding frustrating waits.
Included in the package, is a leather finished steering wheel which may give a notable increase in user comfort, providing better grip and control over standard plastic items.
For those who already have FJD autosteer, the company offers affordable upgrades to this latest version and this is a policy that will be carried on into the future, reducing the time spent having to familiarise with newer models.
The AT2Max is available for immediate order and the company is currently seeking dealers and agents for the system in Ireland.
