At a recent launch in Germany, Grimme presented the EVO 280, a two-row potato bunker-harvester featuring new MultiCrop intake.

This latest harvester is said to offer improved accessibility, convenience and user-friendliness in addition to unrivalled separation and throughput performance.

One of its main advantages is an interchangeable system for both the pick-up and the separator, enabling rapid adaptation to different crops and harvesting conditions.

The intake

Thanks to a standardised interface for electrics and oil supply, a newly developed MultiCrop-Intake enables different harvesting intakes to be selected and mounted in less than five minutes.

Each version of the available intakes can be coupled with the swing frame that is fitted to all machines, taking the channel width into account.

Securing the intake type to the frame is tool-free and can be undertaken from one side of the machine. The user interface also adapts to the intake being used when selected from the options.

Various intake options are available on the new twin-row harvester

The specific crop intakes can be configured separately from the machine. All known intake variants are available, including options for harvesting produce out of ridges, beds or windrowed crops.

Grimme protection

With ShareProtect, the intake now also has a three-stage overload protection system. One overload protection device on the share blades, another one on the brackets for each share, and a final one for the entire share frame.

When harvesting spraying tracks the digging depths can be specified for each of the two ridges so that the crop flow is better distributed on the main webs, which is even possible when harvesting just the one row.

Redesigned disc coulters are mounted on a single bracket and can be individually adjusted in height and distance to the main web and share.

TIM comes to harvesters

For tractors which are prepared for Tractor Implement Management (TIM), Grimme offers the Speedtronic-Cruise option.

The machine uses various parameters to adjust the driving speed of the tractor in order to achieve the optimum balance between throughput and crop protection at all times.

In a bid to improve the comfort of the picking staff, the platform on the right-hand side of the machine can be extended as standard.

Clients can also choose between the short, wide or the long, narrow trash conveyor, which allows two people to pick final clods and/or stones.

The EVO 280 with MultiCrop intake will be available in limited numbers in 2025.
