The heatwave is over for most of the country today, much to the relief of farmers across Ireland.
Temperatures will stay relatively high but Ireland will see less of the sun for the next few days.
Met Éireann’s Gerry Murphy says there will not be too many showers today, but the long period of very high temperatures and sunshine is over.
“Yes, the weather is gradually breaking from today,” he said.
“Not too many showers today, but certainly some in the western half in the country and a few in the midlands, but the temperatures dropping back that bit.
“Then more significant and heavier showers as we go through tomorrow, with the temperatures then dropping to the low 20s.”
“And then as we move through the rest of the week, temperatures will range from the high teens to the low 20s.”
