Glanbia plc has announced the appointment of Michael Patten to a new combined role of Group Human Resources & Corporate Affairs Director, effective immediately.
Commenting, Glanbia Group MD, Siobhan Talbot said Michael brings to the role extensive senior level international plc and FMCG experience and leadership.
“Given his understanding of Glanbia’s global growth strategy as well as the heritage and culture of our company, he is in a strong position to lead, develop and execute a people and culture strategy to enable the next phase of our organisation’s growth and development.
“These new duties are in addition to his current responsibilities for global communications, public affairs and sustainability.”
The position of Group Human Resources Director was previously held by Brian Phelan, now CEO of Global Ingredients.
Michael Patten re-joined Glanbia in September 2014 as Global Corporate Affairs Director after almost 11 years with Diageo plc where he was Global Public Affairs Director. He previously served as Glanbia’s Communications Director from 1997 until 2003.
Patten re-joined after over 10 years with Diageo plc where he is currently Global Public Affairs Director, responsible for strategic public policy delivery worldwide, particularly in tax, international trade and market access, regulatory affairs, brand assurance and corporate and EU public affairs.
He previously served as Corporate Relations Director for Diageo in Ireland from 2004-2009 and was Director of Communications for Glanbia from 1997 until 2004.
