A fire has broken out at the McHale machinery plant in Mayo this evening (Tuesday).
Local sources say a number of units of the local fire brigade are attending the blaze at the Ballinrobe plant. It is thought the fire started in a spray room at the facility, but is believed to now be under control.
McHale’s core business is balers and bale wrappers for the production of baled silage, haylage, hay and straw.
It manufacture a range of fixed and variable chamber round balers, square and round bale wrappers, the Fusion integrated or combination baler wrapper and a range of round bale handling, bale splitting and silage and maize block cutting equipment.
The company employs some 270 people, although it is believed no one has been injured in the fire.
The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) is investigating the incident.
