Calling all entrepreneurs, SMEs, start-ups and researchers, the European Satellite Navigation Competition (ESNC) is looking for ground-breaking business ideas, services, or products addressing the topic of precision agriculture.

This competition rewards innovative applications using satellite navigation with the potential to improve production, efficiency, profitability and to reduce environmental impact.

Its annual search for new services, products, and business innovations in this sector is designed to encourage the use of satellite navigation in everyday life.

The competition has both regional and international prizes and it is divided into a number of application fields.

One of these fields is ‘Agriculture and Forestry’.

Former regional winners in this category include a satellite robot that hoes weeds and a hands-free registration solution for all crop management activities, from field preparations to harvest.

Across the different application fields, the prize pool for the international competition is worth €1m and includes more than 30 prizes: cash prizes, business incubation, coaching, patent consulting, prototyping & marketing support, and publicity within the world’s leading satellite navigation network.

The European GNSS Agency (GSA) will award the most promising European GNSS (Galileo, EGNOS) application idea with the opportunity to realise the idea at a suitable incubation centre within the EU28 for six months.

The European Space Agency’s Space Solutions Prize is looking for new ideas for the commercial use of space technology.

The competition is open to everyone and is open until 30 June 2015. Find out more at www.esnc.eu.
