AgriSearch is set to host a major dairy conference, ‘High Output Dairy Herds – Profit from Performance’, on April 15 at the Armagh City Hotel.
The aim of the conference is to address the needs of high-yielding dairy herds. This event will bring together leading industry experts to explore key strategies for enhancing herd performance, health, and profitability.
The morning session will focus on genetics, health, and performance in high-output systems and will be chaired by veterinary, Dr. Mark Little, and will feature insights from:
- Conor Casey giving a Northern Ireland dairy farmer’s perspective on breeding and genetic advancements;
- Keith Gue giving a farmer’s view from Huddlestone Farm on herd health management in high-performance systems;
- Nial O’Boyle giving insights from his experience as a dairy vet and dairy farm manager in Michigan and Iowa on maximising production efficiency and sustainability.
The afternoon session titled ‘Optimising Animal Nutrition & Mineral Supplementation’ will be chaired by AgriSearch vice chair Ian McCluggage.
This session will focus on best practices for nutrition and mineral management, with expert contributions from:
- Claire Beckett who will give a Northern Ireland dairy farmer’s view on nutritional strategies for high-yielding herds;
- Peter Bone, an independent ruminant mineral nutrition specialist will discuss the role of mineral supplementation in animal performance.
Dairy conference
The conference will conclude with an engaging roundtable discussion on future research and innovation, chaired by AgriSearch’s dairy advisory committee chair, Gary Thompson.
This session will provide attendees with a unique opportunity to contribute to shaping the future of dairy farming.
