Friends and colleagues of former Holstein UK CEO Sue Cope have organised a charity spin-bike cycle in her honour to raise money for Brain Tumour Research.
Sue passed away in May after a short battle with an illness, during which time, Holstein UK said, she received support from Brain Tumour Research, the only national charity in the UK focussed on finding a cure for all types of brain tumours.
“We are honoured that the Holstein UK Group are fundraising for Brain Tumour Research, inspired by the loss of chief executive, Sue Cope,” said Melanie Tiley from Brain Tumour Research.
“Whilst the loss of a much loved and respected colleague and friend is heart-breaking, I am sure that the whole team will achieve their goal whilst raising money and awareness.”
‘Cycle for Sue’ will take place from September 9-16, the time period that the Holstein UK team will be at The International Centre in Telford for UK Dairy Day.
Prior to becoming CEO in 2018, one of the roles held by Sue – who worked with Holstein UK for over 25 years – was event director for UK Dairy Day.
“In memory of Sue we felt UK Dairy Day was the right platform to fundraise for Brain Tumour Research,” said Hannah Williams, head of events and marketing at Holstein UK.
“We start setting up at the International Centre for UK Dairy Day on Friday, at the same [time] we will start cycling a total of 867 miles on two spin bikes.”
The 867-mile journey represents one trip from Land’s End to UK Dairy Day (307 miles) and another from John O’Groats to UK Dairy Day (560 miles).
“A Just Giving page has been set up and we welcome donations in advance or on the day,” Williams added.
