There will be two charity tractor runs tomorrow, Easter Monday, in counties Mayo and Laois – in aid of very deserving causes.
A tractor run will be held near Swinford, Co. Mayo. The JJ McHugh Memorial Tractor Run will take place on Easter Monday, April 17, with all money raised going to Mayo-Roscommon Hospice.
The run will begin at Julian’s Bar of Midfield (outside Swinford) with registration at 3pm. The route will include the local areas Midfield, Kiltimagh and Kilkelly.
There will be music and refreshments afterwards in Julian’s Bar with plenty of raffle prizes. A great evening’s entertainment is promised for this family-friendly event in support of a very worthy cause. All funds raised will go to the local palliative care services in the area.
For anyone interested in entering a tractor in the run, entry costs €20. All donations are greatly appreciated.
It is imperative that participants have proper tax, insurance and licences. In addition, passengers are only permitted on tractors equipped with a passenger seat. There are to be no attachments and clean tractors are preferable. All types of tractors are welcome.
The event is organised by the family and friends of JJ McHugh, a 21-year-old student at IT Sligo, who was killed in a road accident in 2012. The tractor run is held in his memory and has been an annual event for the past two years, drawing large crowds and lots of tractors – as can be seen in the pictures.
The tractor run was held as part of the ‘John Deere Music Weekend’ in July 2016 – with great success.
