The Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB) is planning to visit Ho Chi Minh for the 2022 edition of Food and Hotel Vietnam (FHV) in a bid to gain Vietnamese market access.

FHV, an international trade fair for food, beverages, hotels and restaurants, will take place from December 7-9, 2022.

The board revealed the plans to attend the event today (Monday, November 21), stating that it was part of the ongoing work to open the market for UK pork.

“As well as attending FHV, we will be accompanied by pork exporters from the UK as part of a five-day mission to explore Ho Chi Minh and establish leads with potential buyers,” AHDB said.

“This will put us in a good position to begin commercial shipments once market access is agreed.

“In May, we supported an audit inspection visit with Vietnamese authorities as part of its efforts to open the market for UK pork.

“Vietnam is a key target market, estimated to be worth £4 million to the pork sector over the first five years of trade.”

Market access manager, Ouafa Doxon, said she was pleased to announce that the UK is getting closer to gaining access to the Vietnamese market.

“The audit was the result of the strong partnership between AHDB, industry and the UK government,” she said.
