Aberdeenshire Council has launched its Rural Communities Challenge Fund 2023/2024 and applications are now being accepted.
The scheme delivers funding from the Scottish government’s rural community led local development programme and applications are being invited from community groups, public sector organisations, charities and cooperatives throughout Aberdeenshire.
The council said it aims to fund specific activities focussed on benefitting rural communities throughout Aberdeenshire.
Submissions will be assessed and approved by the Aberdeenshire Local Action Group (LAG), a cross-sector partnership which represents rural communities throughout Aberdeenshire, the council said.
Grants of between £10,000 and £50,000 will be available, with applicants being encouraged to provide a minimum 10% match funding contribution to their projects.
The submission deadline for applications is 5.00pm on Monday, September 4, and application guidance and the application form can be found on the Aberdeenshire Council website.
LAG chair Gina Ford said: “Following the success of last year’s Rural Community Led Vision we are delighted to announce the launch of this new round of funding for our rural communities.
“With the high cost of energy continuing to be a worry for everyone we hope to support even more projects that will have a positive impact across Aberdeenshire.”
Leader of Aberdeenshire Council Cllr Gillian Owen said: “The communities challenge fund is an excellent opportunity for groups and organisations who have projects in mind to take them forward over the coming months.
“Our team is ready to provide further information and support to help groups make their applications and I would encourage all those interested to get in touch.”
