Nine students from across the island of Ireland have been awarded bursaries by Lakeland Dairies to support their education.
The Lakeland Dairies ‘Pathway to A Better Future’ bursary will see each chosen recipient awarded €2,000/£2,000 each.
As part of a move to a move to develop future leaders in agriculture, the students were awarded the bursaries following an interview process.
Bursaries
This is the first time Lakeland Dairies has run such a programme, with nearly 100 students applying for the bursary.
The initiative was designed to support students pursuing undergraduate or higher-level degrees in agricultural science, dairy science, and engineering.
Nine students Lakeland Dairies’ farm families and co-op staff will now receive the contribution to assist with their academic pursuits.
The bursaries were presented to the winners at Lakeland Dairies’ head office in Cavan recently.
The successful bursary recipients are:
- Maria Finnegan, Co. Cavan;
- Eoin O’Sullivan, Co. Meath;
- John Doris, Co. Longford;
- Jack Barry, Co. Cavan;
- Kate Gormley, Co. Leitrim;
- Killian O’Reilly, Co. Cavan;
- Aimee McKnight-Scott, Co. Armagh;
- Sinead McAtamney, Co. Antrim;
- Louise Weir, Co. Down.

The bursary programme is a key part of Lakeland Dairies’ sustainability strategy – Pathway to a Better Future – which was launched in 2023.
