Three people have been sent to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment following a crash between a tractor and a car.
The collision occurred at Sunnyside Road, Coatbridge, at around 10:00p.m last night (Wednesday, December 28), according to a Police Scotland spokesperson.
The three occupants of the car were the ones who required treatment. The driver of the tractor was not injured in the incident.
“The 23-year-old male driver of the car has been charged in connection and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal,” the spokesperson said.
The Twitter account for Road Policing Scotland said the man had been reported for disqualified driving, no insurance, and careless driving following the incident.
“The driver of the car caused the crash by driving carelessly, whilst disqualified and with no insurance,” Road Policing Scotland said in the post.
“Unbelievably only minor injuries! (He has been) charged and reported.”

The road policing unit said it believed the crash was caused by one of the ‘Fatal 5’ , which the police believe are the main causes of road traffic incidents in the UK.
The ‘fatal 5’ causes of road traffic accidents include:
- Careless driving;
- Drink and drug driving;
- Not wearing a seatbelt;
- Using a mobile phone;
- Speeding.
