Reports that Dovea AI bull Lisduff Dandy was being taken out of service are not true and the bull is still in service, according to Dovea.
Enda Dooley confirmed that the bull is still in the yard and working and reports that the dam line not having papers was unfounded.
He said reports that AI technicians were not using the bull anymore were incorrect. However, he said there had been confusion around the dam due to a typo in the Dovea AI Catalogue.
“The pedigree on the dam side was in our catalogue incorrectly, but correct in the ICBF catalogue. It has been rectified and the bull is in the yard and is still working.”
According to the Thurles-based AI company Lisduff Dandy is Ireland’s number one sire for commercial sucker farmers.
This year a bull, by Lisduff Dandy, sold for €3,350 at Carrick-on-Suir.
Lisduff Dandy is sired by Dalrene Cruise and is out of the dam Lisduff Duchess II. Dandy has the best performance of any Angus ever animal tested in Tully, according to ICBF and he had performance test figures of Growth 133, FCE: 121, Carcase Merit: 126 and an Overall Beef Merit Index of 132.
