The advent of surface level slurry application led to large number of companies bringing their own boom designs to the market, many of which stayed with just one model, or variations thereof as building tankers was often the main priority.

Vogelsang, on the other hand, has focused on the spreading rather than the transport of slurry, and the manufacture of booms and associated equipment to provide optimum distribution.

This has led to the company offering a range of products to suit a customers requirements and budgets that goes beyond just a choice of working width.

Vogelsang

With the introduction of the new BlackBird Single trailing shoe linkage, Vogelsang has brought a compact and lightweight spreading system to the market.

The company claims that it allows farmers to spread liquid manure evenly, precisely and with low emissions, on working widths of 7.5 to 12m.

The BlackBird Single is said to offer the latest liquid manure spreading technology at a scale which is suitable for smaller slurry tanks and the typical working widths while meeting the most recent legal requirements.

The light weight for the new series of booms is a major feature with the 12m unit tipping the scales at 1,050kg.

This is made possible by the runners, which are made of a special robust plastic, and the slim linkage design with just one centrally installed precision distributor from the ExaCut series.

Avoiding compaction

The relatively low weight of the trailing shoe linkage helps protect the ground from compaction when in the field and facilitates retrofitting and handling should it need to be dismounted.

The standard transport lock is detached on the linkage side and makes it easier to retrofit the trailing shoe system to almost any slurry tanker Vogelsang claims.

A further feature is the integrated slope compensation, enabling the BlackBird Single to adapt to the ground conditions and so facilitate precise application on hills and slopes.

When folded, it has a transport width of 2.55m, ensuring complies complies with legal regulations throughout Europe. It is available in working widths of 7.5, 9, 10.5 and 12m.
