North Wales Police has appealed for information after a German Shepherd dog is believed to have attacked and killed a sheep in Flintshire.
The German Shepherd dog was seen to be roaming the area of Gwespyr, Llanasa, from Thursday, April 11, until it was captured by animal rescue staff on Saturday, April 13.
During that time, a farmer discovered one of their ewes had been killed in the same area the dog was seen, and another two of their lambs are missing.
PC Ian Nicholls said: “Anyone with any information about the owner of the animal is asked to contact us at the earliest opportunity, using reference number 24000337321.
“Sheep worrying is a criminal offence. Allowing dogs to be out of control around livestock is an offence, even if no injury occurs.
“Not only do sheep worrying incidents and livestock attacks inflict suffering and distress on the animals, but the impact also has a devastating effect for the farming community, both financially and mentally.”
‘Sheepnapped’ Dorset lamb
Dorset Police’s rural crime team has recovered a stolen lamb that had been “sheepnapped” from a field in the area of Sturminster Newton.
One person is in custody for theft and for causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal.
Officers from the Dorset rural crime team made enquiries along with Sturminster Newton NPT and recovered the stolen lamb on Wednesday (April 17).
The team said one farmer and ewe have been reunited with their lamb, and that its investigation into the incident is continuing.
