An event hosted by the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB) will discuss late stage ewe pregnancy and rationing.
The event will take place on Tuesday, January 16, from 6:30p.m until 9:00p.m at The Sun Inn, Coate, Swindon, Wiltshire.
AHDB said the event will help farmers understand their forage analysis to devise a ration and decide whether supplementation is necessary.
Drove Farm Vets, Dr Emily Gascoigne, Norbrook and AHDB will collaborate for the interactive event.
Discussion topics will include:
- Ewe nutritional requirements in late pregnancy and early lactation;
- Calculating a forage-based ewe ration;
- Interpreting metabolic profile results and trace element checks;
- Maximising milk yield.
Dr Emily Gascoigne of Synergy Farm Health is an RCVS recognised specialist in sheep health and production.
She has a special interest in sheep and goat production with a particular emphasis on flock health planning, reducing losses and infectious disease control.
AHDB urged anyone considering attending the event to bring along any forage analyses, metabolic profiles or trace element checks they may have.
