An upcoming film tells the tale of a Devon farmer’s friendship with his local vet against the backdrop of the 2001 foot-and-mouth outbreak.
The story follows the friendship before, during and after the vet is tasked with culling the farm’s herd.
‘And Then Come The Nightjars’ is based on a play by West Country writer Bea Roberts and has been adapted for the big screen by Finite Films.
Nigel Hastings and David Fielder reprise their hugely successful on-stage roles as Jeff and Michael, with the play’s director Paul Robinson making his feature-length film directorial debut.
Amy Gardner, producer and founder of Finite Films & TV, said it was a “pleasure” to adapt the play.
“We can’t wait for audiences to see it, now and on the big screen,” she said.

Ahead of its release, And Then Come The Nightjars will also have a special questions and answers screening at Chichester Film Festival with Hastings, Fielder and Robinson on August 25 and 26.
