The Met Office has issued a Status Yellow rain warning for parts of England, Scotland and Wales.
Under the warning, which is in place from today (Tuesday, January 3) until tomorrow morning (Wednesday, January 4), heavy rain can be expected, which may also lead to some travel disruption and flooding.
The relevant agencies for all three countries – the Environment Agency, Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA), and Natural Resources Wales – all have flood alerts in place. These can be viewed on the agency websites.
In Scotland, the warning also encompasses a thaw of lying hill snow.
The areas covered by the warning can be seen in the picture below:
For the rest of the week, as of now, unsettled conditions with spells of rain can be expected. These will be heaviest in the west, the Met Office said.
Friday (January 6) will be drier and temperatures will near average to mild.
Into the weekend, more rain is also expected.
