Jamie Swift has joined national agronomy and crop production business ProCam, expanding the team of agronomists based at ProCam Rutherfords at Lewes in East Sussex.
Hailing from a livestock farm in Surrey, Swift’s hands-on experience on the family farm, along with over a decade working on arable farms in both the UK and abroad, has cemented his passion for agronomy.
He has helped run several large farms, involved in all technical management and cropping aspects of the businesses from walking the crops to driving the combine.
BASIS qualifications in crop protection
He recently passed his BASIS qualification in crop protection and is planning to take his FACTS fertiliser qualification later this year.
Swift also has a BASIS storekeeper qualification. He will cover the area along the M23 corridor straddling the Surrey and Kent borders for ProCam.
“I believe my mixed farming background and on-the-job learning has given me a great foundation from which to advise clients and help them with some of the current issues facing our industry,” he said.
There is no one-size-fits-all technique anymore.
“As agronomists we have to be adaptable to change and be proactive with new ideas to help farmers achieve the most from their crops,” he concluded.
