Business and farmer current accounts at Danske Bank are not being discontinued today. This was confirmed to the Irish Farmers Association (IFA) this morning.
It is understood the move by Danske Bank to close personal current accounts today follows three months’ notice for the individuals affected.
Today is the final day for some 15,000 current account holders to switch to another lender at the Danish bank.
The IFA is keen to stress that it has received confirmation from the bank that business and farmer accounts are not affected.
A spokesman added that, however that Danske did confirm its plans to exit the Irish market in 2014.
“Business and farmer customers will be kept fully appraised of the Danske plans, and they will be given plenty of notice of any changes,” he added.
The bank announced its exist of retail and business banking in Ireland last October as well as winding down its property investments.
