All NFU Scotland members are invited to participate in the northeast climate change forum led by industry expert Dr. Jude Capper.
Dr. Capper is the ABP Chair and Professor of Sustainable Beef and Sheep systems at Harper Adams University, as well as an independent Livestock Sustainability consultant based in Oxfordshire.
She sits on the National Beef Association board and holds both chair and vice-chair roles for agriculture and sustainability-related panels at the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education.
Dr. Capper’s research focuses on modelling the sustainability of ruminant livestock production systems.
The event will focus discussions on practical farming and climate change, followed by a questions and answers session with Dr. Capper for members to have their questions answered.
The event will take place on Tuesday, June 1, from 6:30p.m until 8:00p.m, via Zoom
Speaking about the event, NFU Scotland’s northeast regional chairman Alan Simpson, said: “Dr. Capper has such an excellent pedigree in her field of expertise, and her input into our event will be so important.
Engaging with people such as Dr. Capper, hearing her opinions and views on practical, climate-friendly techniques and practices, will be useful when building on the foundations already established within our own farming businesses.
“This is going to be one of those meetings which we definitely cannot afford to miss.”
David Smith, the union’s northeast renewables coordinator added:
“Farming is already adapting new carbon-friendly technologies and practices, but we are looking forward to hearing Dr. Capper’s views on how she thinks governments and the wider agricultural industry will be recognised and rewarded for their efforts.
We are a huge part of the solution in tackling climate change, and people like Dr. Capper are very valuable allies in helping academia understand our businesses.
“Our members will also wish to share some of their own thoughts, experiences, and visions for the future. I am very much looking forward to this event,” Smith concluded.
