A tractor which collided with an electricity pole in Worcester has caused power to be cut to over 800 addresses in the vicinity of the accident.
Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service confirmed three crews had been sent out to assist with the incident on Martley Road, Lower Broadheath yesterday (March 1).
The driver of the tractor suffered no injuries in the crash but was forced to remain in his vehicle while electricity and fire crews worked to make sure the electricity was isolated.
A fire service spokesperson said: “There has been an road traffic collision on the Martley Road in Lower Broadheath.
A tractor has collided with an electricity pole. We are in attendance with three crews and we are working with Western Power Distribution to isolate the electricity so the uninjured driver can exit the vehicle.
It is estimated that 848 addresses had been hit by power cuts according to Western Power Distribution.

Recent trends in reported road casualties in Great Britain have been impacted by the national restrictions implemented from March 2020 onwards following the coronavirus pandemic.
Figures for the year ending June 2020 show that:
- There were 1,580 reported road deaths, a decrease of 14% compared to the previous year;
- There were 131,220 casualties of all severities, a decrease of 16%;
- The reduction in casualties is broadly in line with the fall in motor vehicle traffic of 14% over the same period.
