A tractor driver has suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries after being involved in a collision with a tug vehicle at King George Dock in Hull last Saturday (February 13).
A witness to the accident said that as many as 10 police cars, ambulances and fire engines attended the scene of the incident at the port at around 11:45am on the morning of February 13.
The tractor fell onto its side as a result of the collision and the driver was rushed to hospital.
A police spokeswoman said: “On Saturday, February 13, at approximately 11:45am we received reports of a two vehicle collision on King George Dock, Hull.
A tug vehicle and a tractor had collided causing the tractor to end up on its side.
“One man was taken to hospital with serious, but thankfully not life threatening injuries.”
21 agricultural related deaths
Figures published in the Health and Safety Executive’s report ‘Fatal injuries in agriculture, forestry and fishing in Great Britain 2019/20’ show 21 people were killed as a result of farming and other agriculture-related activities during the year.

Agriculture has the worst rate of worker fatal injury (per 100,000) of the main industrial sectors. It is 18 times as high as the average rate across all industries.
Around half of the agricultural workers killed were 55 years or older.
The youngest person killed was a four-year-old child.
